Chicken Fried Steak w/ Gravy

Cook your meat and use the drippings for the gravy to prepare this tasty Southern dish. Have for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Serves 4.

For the meat…

  • 4 slices thin cut beef round steaks
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil

For the gravy…

  • 1 tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp.¬†Worcestershire
  • 1 can (7 oz.) mushrooms, drained and diced
  • 1 1/2 cups milk

 

  1. In a bowl, mix 2/3 cup flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. pepper, and paprika.
  2. In another bowl, beat eggs.
  3. Coat the steaks with the flour mixture, then the egg, then the flour mixture again.
  4. Let the steaks chill for 20 minutes in the fridge.
  5. Heat the oil in a skillet.
  6. Saute the beef for about 2 minutes on each side.
  7. Remove the beef leaving 3 tbsp. of fat in skillet for the gravy.
  8. Stir in 1 tbsp. flour to make paste for the gravy.
  9. Add Worcestershire, milk, and mushrooms, salt, pepper and simmer for a few minutes to thicken.
  10. Spoon gravy over meat and serve.
