In India, samosas are popular movie theater snack foods. In the USA, they’re one of the most popular Indian appetizers.
Indian Samosas

Samosas are crispy pockets filled with peas, potatoes and yummy Indian inspired spices. They are often served with a mint dipping sauce, but I think they're just as delicious without it. This is an Americanized version of the recipe that uses less ingredients and simplifies the process.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. curry powder
- 1 package wonton wrappers
- 1 tbsp.cumin seeds
- 3 potatoes, boiled, peeled and chopped
- ½ cup frozen green peas
- ½ tsp.turmeric
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro
- veggie oil for frying
Instructions
- Saute the chopped potatoes, peas, seasonings with a bit of oil for a few minutes, just to warm the ingredients.
- Make a cone with the wrapper and spoon the potato mixture into the center.
- Once the wrapper is almost filled up.
- Preheat the deep fryer or add 2 cups of oil to large saute pan.
- Close the top seam by pressing with your fingers.
- Repeat.
- Toss in the hot oil and cook until wrapper is crispy and golden in color.
