This version of a classic Russian dish is easy to prepare and ready as a tasty, complete meal in no time.
- 1 lb. beef steak, thin 1 – 1 1/2 inch long strips
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 8 oz. mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup sour cream
- 6 tbsp. butter
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. tarragon
- parsley
- salt
- pepper
- Melt 3 tbsp. butter over medium heat, add beef, and cook until brown. While beef is cooking, add salt and pepper (to taste). Set cooked beef aside.
- Add onions to the same pan and cook for a few minutes. Remove and keep with beef.
- Melt 3 more tbsp. butter in same pan, and add mushrooms. Cook for 4-6 minutes. Half-way through cooking, add the nutmeg and tarragon to mushrooms.
- Add sour cream to mushrooms and stir thoroughly over low heat. Thin sauce with water if you think necessary.
- Mix beef and onions with mushrooms/sour cream. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over cooked egg noodles and garnish with parsley. Done!
