This toffee recipe is super simple and easy to put together! Great holiday gift idea.

Chocolate Almond Toffee
Recipe type: Dessert
  • 2 cups butter
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1¼ cup finely chopped almonds (unsalted)
  • candy thermometer
  1. Combine the butter, sugar and salt in a saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the butter is melted (be careful, so it doesn't burn).
  3. Bring to a boil, and cook until the mixture becomes a dark amber color, and the temperature has reached 285F.
  4. Stir occasionally.
  5. While the toffee is cooking, cover a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. As soon as the toffee reaches the proper temperature, pour it out onto the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top, and let it set for a minute or two to soften.
  7. Spread the chocolate with a soft spatula into a thin even layer once it is melted.
  8. Sprinkle the nuts over the chocolate, and press lightly.
  9. Place the toffee in the refrigerator to chill until set.
  10. Break into pieces, and store in an airtight container or zip lock bag.
