Instead of a traditional apple pie, try this apple tart! It’s so easy to make and very pretty on a plate.

  • 2¼ cups all purpose flour
  • 3 sticks of cold butter
  • ½ cup very cold water
  • tsp. salt
  • ½ cup sugar plus 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 4 green apples, peeled and cored
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp. spiced rum
  • greased deep baking sheet
  1. Mix the flour, 2½ sticks butter, salt, cold water, 1 tbsp. sugar in a food processor until crumbly.
  2. Remove and place on clean flat surface.
  3. Ball it up and wrap with plastic wrap.
  4. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400F.
  6. Roll it out into a rectangle.
  7. Cut the apples in half and slice into thin pieces.
  8. Mix the apples with the sugar, cinnamon, spiced rum, and chopped ½ stick of butter.
  9. Arrange the apples on top of the dough in a neat layered fashion.
  10. Use your imagination! It doesn't have to be perfect.
  11. Bake for approx 45 minutes.
  12. Serve warm or at room temperature!
This apple tart goes great with vanilla icecream or whipping cream!
