My friends roommate was from the Philippines and she would make batches of these to feed the neighborhood! They taste almost like a pork meatball stuffed inside of an egg roll!
Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 2 cloves garlic, shredded
  • 3-4 chopped scallions or green onions
  • ½ cup chopped white onion
  • ⅓ cup minced carrots
  • ½ cup thinly sliced green cabbage
  • 1 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp. soy sauce (light)
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 30 lumpia wrappers or egg roll wrappers
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (or use the deep fryer!)
Instructions
  1. Brown the pork in an oiled fry pan.
  2. Remove the pork from the pan and fry the onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes over medium low.
  3. Stir in the carrots, cabbage, scallions and the cooked pork.
  4. Add the seasonings and stir well for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove from the heat and set aside.
  6. Add a couple tbsp. of the meat mixture to the lumpia papers.
  7. Start at the bottom corner, roll up tightly and fold in the edges.
  8. Fry in a wok or deep fryer until crispy and golden brown.

I’ve had these before, so when I saw this recipe the other day I had to make a batch! I made about fifteen by cutting the instructions in half. I wish I had made the whole thing. We didn’t have any leftovers and there were 4 of us.
