I’m part Sicilian, so I thought I should represent a little of Sicilia’s culinary magic with this big pot of stew.
Sicilian Seafood Stew

Seafood is a huge part of the Sicilian way of life.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. fresh fish, cut into cubes (snapper, bass, cod)
- ¼ lb. calamari, cleaned, and cut into pieces
- 1 lb. clams, cleaned
- ½ lb. shrimp, cleaned
- 1 chopped white onion
- 2 lemons, juiced
- ¼ cup fresh chopped parsley
- 5 cloves garlic, shredded
- 1 28 oz. can chopped tomatoes
- 2 cups white wine
- 1 cup clam juice
- 2 cups veggie or fish stock
- 1 tbsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. garlic salt or sea salt
- 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 2 cups water
- ¼ cup olive oil
- *Don't forget the crusty bread!
- * add a few more types of fish and this could be your Feast of the 7 fishes dish!
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a dutch oven or large pot.
- Add the chopped onion.
- Cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the garlic and stir.
- Pour in the tomatoes, spices, salt and stir.
- Cook for a few minutes.
- Add the stock, wine, and clam juice.
- Bring to a light boil. Reduce to low and let simmer.
- Add the seafood ingredients.
- Bring to a simmer.
- Add the water and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Serve with a lemon wedge and a sprinkling of fresh chopped parsley.
